Our Story

Jeremy Perelis didn’t set out to build a business. He set out to fix a dishwasher.

It was 1997, and Jeremy was working as a technician for a national warranty company based in Van Nuys. The pay was fine. The work was steady. But the job had a problem he couldn’t fix: the company didn’t care whether the repair actually held.

“They’d send me to the same house three times for the same refrigerator,” Jeremy recalls. “The homeowner would be frustrated, I’d be embarrassed, and the company would bill for three service calls instead of one. That’s not how I was raised.”

Jeremy grew up in North Hollywood, the son of a building superintendent. His father, David Perelis, managed a 40-unit apartment complex on Laurel Canyon Boulevard and could fix anything — boilers, garbage disposals, window AC units, you name it. Jeremy started tagging along on repair calls at age ten. By sixteen, tenants were calling him directly.

In 1999, Jeremy took $4,000 in savings, bought a used Ford Econoline, and started Burbank Appliance Repair out of his garage on Glenoaks Boulevard. His wife Rachel handled the phones and scheduling from the kitchen table. Their first customer was a woman on Magnolia Park whose Kenmore dryer had stopped heating. Jeremy diagnosed a blown thermal fuse, replaced it for $85, and had her dryer running in under an hour.

Twenty-five years later, that customer is still calling.

The Team

What started as a one-man operation is now a team of eight certified technicians — most of whom have been with us for over a decade.

Jeremy Perelis — Founder & Lead Technician. 30+ years of experience. Specializes in Sub-Zero, Viking, and Thermador high-end appliances. Still goes out on calls five days a week.

Daniel Perelis — Senior Technician & Jeremy’s son. Grew up riding along on service calls. Certified in Samsung and LG electronics-heavy appliances. Has been a full-time tech since 2018.

Marco Gutierrez — Technician, 14 years with the company. Our washer and dryer specialist. Factory-trained on Speed Queen commercial units.

Armen Petrosyan — Technician, 11 years with the company. Handles most of our Glendale and Pasadena calls. Expert in Bosch and Miele European appliances.

Our Approach

We do three things differently than the big companies:

1. We diagnose before we quote. We charge a flat $85 service call fee, which gets waived if you go ahead with the repair. We’ll tell you exactly what’s wrong, exactly what it costs, and whether we honestly think the repair is worth it. No surprises.

2. We stock common parts on our trucks. About 70% of repairs, we complete on the first visit because we carry the most common failure parts for every major brand. No “we’ll order the part and come back in two weeks.”

3. We guarantee our work. 90-day parts warranty, 30-day labor warranty. If the same issue comes back within that window, we come back at no charge. Period.

We’re based at 901 Burbank Blvd — right in the heart of Burbank. We serve Burbank, Glendale, North Hollywood, Pasadena, Toluca Lake, Sun Valley, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, and the surrounding San Fernando Valley communities.

Most of our business comes from repeat customers and referrals. We think that says more about us than any advertisement could.
